Choosing Myself

Genevieve Cheung sitting calmly against a natural rock wall, centered and grounded, reflecting on choosing herself, grief, and inner clarity.

Grieving the Woman I Was – Heart (a poem)

There comes a moment when choosing yourself is no longer a concept —
it becomes a necessity.
In this episode, I speak about choosing myself not as empowerment, not as toughness, but as a quiet, honest decision that came through grief.
Not grief for a relationship.
But grief for the woman I was — the one who kept giving, explaining, staying open, hoping effort would be met halfway.
This is a reflective, conversational episode about:
– how the thought of choosing oneself first appears
– why grief is unavoidable in that process
– why skipping grief turns into numbness or armor
– and how choosing yourself becomes complete, grounded, and dignified
I also share a poem, Heart, as a supporting reflection on boundaries, softness, and discernment — not as performance, but as lived truth.
This episode is for anyone standing at the edge of an ending, not angry, not dramatic — just tired — and ready to return to themselves.
